My new work [which will hopefully be in my exhibition] is kind of inspired by a line from the Watchmen comics [well its actually a Nietzsche quote] - "If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you". It got me thinking about photos of people with expressions of sadness, fear, distress etc [gosh cheerful stuff once again badge!] so I've started to source said photos and am currently sketching them out and playing about with them in my sketchbook, before turning them into stencils, but its all at the planning stages at the moment so things could change....

Over the past few weeks I've been pretty busy with regular "Real World" work and also getting some ideas down in my sketchbook for a new set of paintings/stencils for me to take to show a lady who runs a cafe in sunny Llandudno, she asked me to take some work in to show her [with the view to exhibit] a few weeks ago when I called in to ask if I could put a poster up for the 'Alternative Life Drawing' classes, so finally went back today and have managed to score my very first one-man show! I don't want to boast - I'm just excited! I have 6 weeks to get my new work ready for the exhibition, I hang it on November 2nd so it'll be up in the cafe the next day for the rest of November!! Will post some photos and more info soon :)

It was my birthday over the weekend, so Wendy took me to the Zoo today, i hadn't been since I was a kid, so I was naturally peeing myself with excitement [mainly because I knew I'd be seeing penguins - quite possibly the best animals ever!]
I had an awesome day and took far too many photos [I had to delete loads] My highlights were the bear that just kept pacing on the spot, the sea lion that copied whatever Wendy did [see photo] the newborn snow leopards [which I had to stop Wendy from trying to stroke] the alligators Albert & Nancy [who are having babies - congrats Mr&Mrs Alligator] and of course the penguins, in fact the whole day was one big highlight!

Have been beyond busy clearing my desk/bedroom to make some room to draw/paint etc, and its FINALLY finsihed, after deciding that when life gives you lemons...you should sell them on ebay and use the money to get what you wanted, so until I can find a studio space that I won't have to sell vital organs to afford I'm working from home. After I cleared all the crap away I was surprised to discover how much space I actually have and better still now that its all done I've been busy drawing away in my sketchbook!! YEA!
[p.s thought I'd share the genius and wisdom of 'The Boy Least Likely To' with you all - currently loving their album 'Law of the Playground' and finding myself constantly inspired by it...]

This started off life as the image for the Poster for Septmeber's 'Alternative Life Drawing', but I liked it so much that I made it into a painting for Annmarie [for her new flat - of which I'm beyond jealous!]
The top one is the original sketch I did from a picture I found online - the idea actually came from a print I saw by Eelus with a woman drawing noughts and crosses on her blank face, I decided to use the yellow smiley face and do something similar. The end result is spraypaint on fabric.
